BIKE DIMENSIONS

Frame Size: Measured from the top of the seat tube to the center of the main chainwheel axis

Wheel size: This can usually be found on the rubber of your tire, but you can also measure the diameter of the tire to find this (including rubber).

CRANK ARM LENGTH

Crank arm length is measured in millimeters from the center of the main chainwheel axis to the centre of the pedal axis (see picture below):

MAIN CHAINWHEEL AXIS TO CRANK ARM ORIENTATION

We typically only fabricate HCA's to fit a 4 sided main chainwheel axis, however since each HCA is custom made, we can fill special orders if the need arises. However, there are cases where the relationship between the crank arm and the main chainwheel axis (MCA) varies. In most cases it is parallel, and on the odd occasion it is rotated.  Please see the diagram below:

When you place the order you can attack this problem in one of two ways. The simplest solution is to order an accompanying crank or crank/chainwheel for the opposite side of your HCA that will be sure to match in configuration. If you choose this option please check the send accompanying crank for opposite side on order form. This is simple to do when you haven't invested in an expensive crank or crank/chainring assembly.

See the picture below to get an idea of what happens when you have a parallel crank arm on one side, and the hinged crank arm sent to you is rotated.

If you do want to preserve the sound side's crank equipment, simply remove the cap and nut on the MCA to determine the configuration and report it in the order form by checking the appropriate box.
